Economics of Climate Adaptation Assessment Model
This solution addresses unknown economic costs of climate events in impact zones around the world for coastal residents, policy makers, reinsurers
Problem Description
With looming environmental disasters stemming from climate change, it's vital that policy makers and other relevant stakeholders are provided with accurate quantitative figures on the potential costs that are associated with these events. The Climada tool was developed as a model to be able to make estimates for what these costs are. It uses probabilistic (not deterministic) modeling to develop robust cost benefit models for various abatement scenarios. Climada is open-source, meaning that anyone is free to take advantage of its full set of features.Building Blocks
