Seoul’s Skygarden: Public space from adapted 1970s highway
This solution addresses lack of public space in Seoul in Seoul, South Korea for local residents
Problem Description
“Seoul’s ambitious Skygarden revives a disused elevated 1970s highway with 24,000 plants – and is open to all, 24 hours a day… It is also part of a bigger set of ideas about taking a big, dense – sometimes ugly – city, one which was created without a great deal of concern for public space and pedestrian movement, and giving it qualities of walkability, neighbourliness, human scale and shared enjoyment of its places. To this end, the mayor has encouraged a range of public works and created the post of city architect to help make them happen.” Quote from: www.theguardian.com/cities/2017/may/19/seoul-skygarden-south-korea-london-garden-bridgeBuilding Blocks
